Bill heads up the contentious side of the Technology and Communications Group. Bill specialises in technology and outsourcing
dispute resolution which he has specialised in since approximately 1996 whilst at DLA. He has extensive experience of resolving high value and complex commercial disputes, often with a multi-jurisdictional remit.

Bill has a very successful track record of resolving technology and outsourcing disputes at a very early stage by negotiation or mediation. This skill is highly valued by clients particularly in the outsourcing arena. Bill frequently advises clients upon breaches of contract, termination rights and injunctive relief often involving off-shore outsourcing suppliers. He also advises clients in respect of system/software development projects, software licensing, infringements of trade marks and methods of protecting intellectual rights.

Bill acts for both outsourcing suppliers (HR, IT and business process) and IT suppliers. Bill also acts for end users usually in the banking and financial services sector. He also advises clients in the media and communications industries.

Bill recently joined Teacher Stern from a large City law firm where he practised for 11 years, 6 of which as a Partner. Bill is a member the Society of Computers and Law (SCL), a committee member in the IT Disputes Group at SCL and sits on the Technology and Construction Court Users Committee headed up by Mr Justice Ramsay.

Exprience includes:

• acting for Fujitsu Network Communications Inc in relation to separate claims in 6 different European jurisdictions in relation to the supply and installation of in excess of US$35 million telecommunications and IT infastructure sourced for the establishment of a pan European network. This involved Bill heading up a team of approximately 15 lawyers.

• representing a large investment bank in respect of a dispute concerning the ability of the bank to terminate certain specific services pursuant to an IT outsourcing agreement with an off-shore outsourcing services provider in India. This involved the provision of business critical front office trading systems to the bank.

• advising Unisys Limited in relation to a long term IT oursourcing services agreement.

• advising a financial institution and devising a detailed exit plan during the currency of a dispute with an off-shore outsourcing services provider to attempt to ensure the smooth transition of the services back "in-house".

• representing a software developer in a claim against an Indian based sub-contractor in relation to the development of software packages for a third party.

• acting for a large US software house in a claim against another US based software house in a US$4 million claim concerning allegations that the client`s software had been reverse engineered.
