Trainee recruitment for 2022 is now on hold
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the difficult decision to put on hold recruitment for this year’s vacation scheme.
We would like to thank those who have invested their time and effort in their applications to date and apologise for the inconvenience. We will provide further information regarding our future vacation schemes and training contracts as it becomes available.
Recruitment for training contracts to commence in both the years 2022 and 2023 will take place in calendar year 2021. Further details will be posted in the FAQs by the end of May 2020.

An application for a training contract with Teacher Stern, involves applying for our Vacation Scheme Programme. Participation on the programme will not only give you the opportunity to come and meet us in person, but it will enable you to get an inside look at what it would be like to train and work at Teacher Stern.
Attending and performing well on our Vacation Scheme Programme will dramatically increase your chances of securing a training contract with us.

Vacation Scheme Programme Structure
Each summer, usually during the months of June and July, we carry out two or three separate week-long Vacation Scheme Programmes. Each programme is attended by six potential new trainee solicitors.
During their week long placement, candidates spend time in one of our core departments: Corporate, Commercial, Employment, Real Estate and Dispute Resolution. There, they will have the opportunity to experience life as a trainee solicitor, get a feel and understanding for the work the department does, and have an opportunity to interact with other departments within the firm on deals and transactions requiring the involvement of multi-disciplinary teams. The placement also allows candidates to ask questions of partners and fee earners and assess whether we really are the right firm for them.
Candidates will also part take in a series of group exercises, interviews and assessments. At the end of the week, candidates will have a formal interview with a partner and a member of recruitment team. But, don’t worry, it’s not all work and no play! There will also be a series of informal lunches and evenings out with our current trainees and other members of our trainee recruitment team.
Applying for a Place on the Vacation Scheme
In order to apply for a position on our Vacation Scheme Programme, you will need to simultaneously Apply for a Training Contract.
Applications for the 2020 Vacation Scheme Programme will open from January 2020 until 30 April 2020. Participants will be taking part in this programme with a view to securing training contracts for the 2022 intake, though it is possible that earlier places will be available.
Places on our Vacation Scheme Programme are very heavily sought after. As such, it is recommended that you apply for a place at your earliest opportunity.
We may ask you to attend an open/assessment day in advance of offering you a place on the scheme. At the open day, we will both get the opportunity to assess whether you and Teacher Stern are the right fit for each other. You may then receive an invite to attend one of our Vacation Scheme Programmes. In 2020 the open days will be held in June and the Vacation Scheme Programmes will be held in early July.
