Meet the recruitment team

Meet David.

David is one of our trainee supervisors and a recruitment partner responsible for hiring our new trainees. He meets with all of our vacation scheme participants and has some insight and advice for future applicants.

David’s background

I wanted to be a lawyer from a young age. It appealed as it seemed intellectually challenging. When I was 15 I spent a week shadowing a partner in a High Street firm and whilst I was at University (studying Geography) I also spent some time with the legal team within a Local Authority. Both experiences re-confirmed to me that I wanted to pursue a career as a solicitor.

One of my lasting memories of being a trainee is being part of a team; both in terms of the comradery of being part of a trainee cohort, and also with the fee earners in each department I worked in.

David’s influences

One corporate partner whose team I qualified into strongly believed in a team ethic; we worked hard and we all socialised outside work too. I was part of that team for six years and it was fundamental to shaping how I approach work today and how I value and interact with colleagues.

David’s advice to you

  • Remember to show what makes you tick as a candidate and an individual; what are you passionate about and what values do you hold?
  • Be an enthusiastic, hardworking team player… It has got me to where I am today.
  • A highly successful trainee is collaborative, enthusiastic and well-rounded.
